چکیده

The bearing capacity of unsaturated soft soil foundations is affected by natural or artificial hard crust, due to the stress diffusion and closure effect. Based on triple-shear unified solution shear strength for soil, analytical solutions critical edge load with crust are derived consideration lateral pressure coefficient K 0 ≠ 1 . formulas degraded compared. Meanwhile, influences diffusion, increased load, matric suction, intermediate principal, conducted crust. results show that increased, decreased increase ratio elastic modulus between soil. foundation effect suction remarkable, linearly low variate dual influence high suction. obviously higher than saturated principal coefficient. contains different under various working conditions, which has important theoretical significance widely engineering application.

A Practical Approach For Computing Soil Bearing Capacity Under Shallow Foundations Using Vibro-Replacement Method

This paper presents a practical approach for designing, erecting, and testing stone columns using the vibro-replacement method to improve soil bearing capacity under shallow foundations (isolated and raft foundations) for any typical building under small or medium loading conditions. Usually, the vibroreplacement method is used in soils with cohesive layers of mixed deposits, loose sand, or bot...

Experimental and Numerical Study of Tension Bearing Capacity of Circular Skirted Foundations Resting on Sand Bed

Skirted foundations are an appropriate alternative to deep foundations in onshore and offshore structures, which have the ability to withstand uplift loads, are also easy to be installed. The tensile performance of skirted foundations on sand was studied by physical and numerical modeling. Laboratory tests were carried out on small-scale foundation models with peripheral skirts. Numerical model...

The Effect of Spatial Variability and Anisotropy of Soils on Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundations

Naturally occurred soil deposits inherit heterogeneity and anisotropy in their strength properties. The main purpose of this paper is to model the soil stratum with anisotropy consideration and spatially varying undrained shear strength by using random field theory coupled with finite difference numerical analysis to evaluate their effect on the bearing capacity of the shallow foundations. In t...

Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundations on Cohesionless Soils: A Random Forest Based Approach

Determining the ultimate bearing capacity (UBC) is vital for design of shallow foundations. Recently, soft computing methods (i.e. artificial neural networks and support vector machines) have been used for this purpose. In this paper, Random Forest (RF) is utilized as a tree-based ensemble classifier for predicting the UBC of shallow foundations on cohesionless soils. The inputs of model are wi...
